Brady is being honored nationwide for her role in earninf greater recognition of the San Antonio Public Library ona decision-making levek within the city. This has resulted in a consolidated initiativr to create a sustainable funding base for the library The city proposed designating a portio of the sales tax forlibrary funding. “Sincr her election to the Chaidr of the Board of Trustees of the San AntonioPublifc Library, Jean has dedicated her time and energty to raising the library’s profiled with community decision-makers,” San Antoniko Public Library Director Ramiro Salazar says.
“Morr than just an advocate, she has demonstrated leadership throughouty her termof office, developing and implementing strategies to effectivelyh present the library’s case to both governmenft and the community at large.” As board Brady formed a Librargy Advocacy Committee that lobbied City Counciol and directed outreach efforts. She also created a bureau to make presentations about the library to civic organizatione andcommunity groups.
She also pivotalk in finding platforms that communicated thelibraryt system’s role in quality of life “Jean’s community leadership skills made the San Antoniop Public Library not only relevant, but also critical to the livees of San Antonians,” says Eva Poole, director of libraries for the Dentohn Public Library and chair of the 2009 Urban Player Awar d Selection Committee.
