AG Suthers warns of fake online job ads - Denver Business Journal:

“Thd company sends victims fake checks and asks them to wire theire own money overseas before the badcheclk bounces,” Suthers’ statement said. “Some of these ads requesf personalidentifying information, including bank account numbers, from applicants.” Another scam on the increase involves companies advertising for “mysterhy shoppers” to test the service of local companies. “The ads say the company will pay an applicanrt a fixed amount of money to wire part of a checkk or moneyorder elsewhere,” Suthers’ statement “The check sent to victims, never clears and the victims are left with an overdrawbn bank account.
